Lamborghini Urus SE Unveiled: Luxury SUV Goes Green With PHEV Technology
Italian luxury sports car and SUV manufacturer Lamborghini has introduced the first ever plug-in hybrid (PHEV) of its Super SUV in the German market. The company yesterday officially introduced the Urus SE in Germany. The Urus SE debuted in the land of Autobahn at an event held at the Kesselhaus Kolbermoor in presence of Lamborghini customers, management and the media.
At the event Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO, Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer, and Mitja Borkert, Director of Design introduced the Urus SE, highlighting its innovative hybrid powertrain and updated design features.
Germany being the cradle of automobiles this hybrid SUV has made its debut quite late in the country. Till now Lamborghini has already debuted the Urus SE in other international markets like China, USA, Italy, UK, UAE, Canada before bringing this SUV to the cradle of automobiles.
The Lamborghini Urus SE hybrid SUV with PHEV technology is equipped with a 4.0 L V8 biturbo petrol engine which works in tandem with an electric motor putting out a combined power output of 789 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. In this powertrain the internal combustion engine puts out 611 bhp and 800 Nm of torque and the electric motor powered by a 25.9 kWh battery pack puts out 189 bhp and 483 Nm of torque. It has a top speed of 312 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.4 seconds. The company is also claiming that this hybrid system can reduce the emissions of the Urus SE by as high as 80 percent in comparison to a Urus S.
In terms of design the Urus SE gets a new bonnet design inspired by the Lamborghini Revuelto, and Matrix LED headlights with a distinctive light signature. The rear of the Urus SE features a new diffuser and a hexagon-shaped graphic element, drawing inspiration from the Lamborghini Gallardo.
Commenting on the occasion Rouven Mohr said, “Our development brief for the Urus SE was clear: create state-of-the-art technology with more power in combination with the uncompromising character that is typical of Lamborghini’s DNA.
