Last Episode of James Corden’s ‘Late Late Show’ Debunks One Direction Reunion

The last episode of James Corden’s Late Late Show will not have One Direction back together.

Corden, the host of a late-night talk show, said Thursday that Zayn Malik’s band won’t be reuniting on Comedy Central to talk about “History.”

A news article published by Mirror a few days ago suggested that the entire boy band might reunite for Corden’s final episode of the show on April 27. However, the official Late Late Show Twitter account has since put an end to those rumors.

“Nobody loves the boys more than us, but this story just isn’t true. What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant 2 hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10pm on April 27th,” the show’s official account tweeted.

The British boy band, which was made up of Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik, broke up in 2016. They had become very popular around the world in the 2010s.

Since then, each member has been working on his or her own career. Styles’ career has done especially well, and fans can’t wait for the day when the group might get back together.

In a recent interview with Esquire, Horan encouraged fans to hold out hope that he still consults with his ex-bandmates on unreleased music.

Horan said, “This time I sent it to Louis Tomlinson, and he gave me his honest opinion on it, which is always handy.”

Corden has been a fan of One Direction for a long time, and he is leaving his job on the CBS show later this month.

Corden chose to leave the late-night show. He told Variety that “he’s simply ready for a new chapter in his career.”

Corden said, “Mainly it was just a feeling of, maybe we’ve done it. I don’t know that these shows, or certainly this iteration of the show in the manner that we do it, should be on forever.”
