LCSC Men’s Tennis Opens Season in Boise


BOISE – Warrior Men’s Tennis opened the 2024 with tough matchups against NCAA Division I Idaho State and Boise State on Saturday. Though the final scores were not in LC State’s favor, the Warrior newcomers saw what it takes to compete in college tennis.

The Warrior men opened the season against Idaho State and utilized a lineup full of experience. Two freshmen saw action in the contest with Gustavo Santos in doubles play and Rafael Bonnet in singles.
Santos teamed up with Malte Sommer at No. 3 doubles for the strongest match of the contest. The pair battled to a 7-6(1) loss in their pairing, but were the only Warrior duo to score.
Cornelius Sia won six games in his No. 6 singles match to lead LC on the day. Itaru Kikuchi played the top singles spot and picked up three games, and Alvaro Camino won four in the fourth slot.

The Warriors capped a difficult opening day with a contest against shook off the rust and turns to matches in coming weeks.
Kikuchi and Daniel Tevez put together the strongest match with a 7-6(7) loss in No. 2 doubles, and Sia and Bonnet battled to a 6-4 loss in No. 3 doubles.

The Warriors host their home opener against DIII Whitman on Feb. 3 in the Tennis Center.
