Learn about Anderson Humane Wildlife Center at Izaak Walton League meeting


On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Elgin Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will host Stephanie Franczak from the Anderson Humane Wildlife Center.

The program will begin at 7 p.m. at Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay St. in Elgin.

Franczak is the wildlife rehabilitation manager. She is a certified wildlife rehabilitator with over 10 years of experience. Previously, she was the hospital director at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter, Floria. In her career, she has worked with over 250 different species and has treated thousands of wild patients.

The presentation will be all about wildlife rehabilitation and how to coexist with our wild friends. She will show the journey an animal goes through when brought into a rehabilitation hospital for care. You will learn what types of animals Anderson Humane cares for and common reasons animals may need help.

In March of 2020, Anderson Animal Shelter merged with Fox Valley Wildlife Center, Kane County’s largest wildlife rehabilitation and education programming provider. For nearly 20 years, Fox Valley Wildlife Center’s expert staff and passionate and committed volunteers have worked hard to save the lives of thousands of orphaned and injured wild animals, providing second chances for over 3,000 wild animals each year.
