Leftwich Tennis Center opens this weekend in Memphis. Here’s what to know.


Leftwich Tennis Center is having its grand opening this weekend on Nov. 11.

The tennis center, owned by Tennis Memphis, will officially open to the public starting this weekend from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located at 4145 Southern Avenue near the University of Memphis, guests are welcome to play tennis for free on Saturday.

There will be free tennis clinics to learn from professionals, tennis challenges to test your skills and music to play along to. Players from the University of Memphis Tennis team will be in attendance.

The center features 24 outdoor courts and 12 indoor courts. There is room for all people to play from beginners to pros. It is also open to all ages. Here is what else is going on at Leftwich Tennis Center:

Leftwich Tennis Center hours

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays the center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The hours on Sundays are 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Tennis Memphis Pricing

There are two player card options that work for the Leftwich Tennis Center location.

The PCT player card allows a player to have permanent court time and to reserve court time up to five days in advance. This card costs $150 for seniors 55 and older, and it costs $160 for adults.

The premium player card allows a player to have permanent court time, reserve courts five days in advance and have unlimited outdoor court play. This option costs $290 for seniors, $300 for an adult and $450 for a family.

Permanent court time is a group reservation for indoor court time for the same day and time each week. If you are extremely dedicated to the sport and not going when you can find the time, this is a good option for you.

Player cards are not required to play play tennis, reserve courts or participate in programs at the tennis centers. However, it is required to reserve permanent court time and receive the reduced rate for PCT.

Tennis Memphis offers free public service court time on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. This is only at the Eldon Roark Tennis Center.

What locations does Tennis Memphis have?

Tennis Memphis has five tennis centers around Memphis.

  1. Eldon Roark Tennis Center at 1500 Finley Road with eight outdoor courts and four indoor courts.
  2. Frayser Tennis Center at 2907 Watkins Street with eight outdoor courts.
  3. Leftwich Tennis Center at 4145 Southern Avenue with 24 outdoor courts and 12 indoor courts.
  4. Raleigh Tennis Center at 3680 Powers Road with eight outdoor courts.
  5. Wolbrecht Tennis Center at 1645 Ridgeway Road with six outdoor courts and two indoor courts.
