Legally, Khloé Kardashian Has Renamed Her Son Tatum Thompson

Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson’s baby boy’s name has been officially changed.

Documents that PEOPLE got show that the 39-year-old co-founder of Good American first put “Baby Kardashian” as her son Tatum’s name on his birth certificate because she hadn’t chosen a name for him yet. However, she and her husband have since officially changed his name.

On Thursday, a Los Angeles County judge gave the 13-month-old’s new name, Tatum Thompson, the official stamp of approval.

California law says that new parents can give their child the last name of the father, the last name of the mother, or a mix of the two. Whatever the parent chooses is permanent until a court order says otherwise.

In July 2022, Kardashian and Thompson, who are both 32 years old, will have their first child. Their daughter, who is 5 years old, is also theirs.

Kardashian said last year that she had a surrogate give birth to her child. Tatum’s name was revealed in season three of The Kardashians, which aired in May. Later in the season, she talked about how hard it was for her to bond with her baby after having it through a surrogate.

Kris Jenner told Kim Kardashian, her daughter, that she should be kinder to herself because she is a good mother.

Kardashian said at the time, “I wish I wasn’t so critical of myself. Because I’m very kind to everyone else, I’m just not very kind to myself. But being a mom is truly one of, just the most magical experiences ever.”
