Leonard Peter Romano Sr., 92, Tyrone, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday.
He was born in Tyrone, son of the late Peter and Mary (Kobuck) Romano. On Sept. 8, 1956, he married Donna J. (Stefano) Romano at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, surviving are his three children: Luann Romano (Thomas) Paglianite, Mary Romano (James) Domenick and Leonard P. Romano Jr.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Theresa Romano Gill and Lucille Romano.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Frank Romano; and two sisters, Adeline Maceno and Agnes Cowher.
Leonard was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Westvaco Corp., where he retired as a mechanic after 38 years of dedicated service. He was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
He loved his computer poker and games and his sports shows and game shows on TV. His wife and family were his life.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Father Michael Pleva, celebrant. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 1105 Cameron Ave., Tyrone, PA 16686.
