Letters: Taxpayers should not fund car charging stations

I read that Louisiana Clean Fuels, a nonprofit working with the state Department of Transportation and Development on its electric vehicle infrastructure plan, discovered that the state could build about 75 charging stations over five years.

Is the state going into business selling fuel? Isn’t that the role of private enterprise? And just whose money would be risked in said venture? Why, the taxpayers, of course.

I wonder why I haven’t seen charging stations popping up at every convenience store. Possibly, because private business owners believe them to be too risky to be justified.

Electric charging stations are not the business of government. Government should stick to what it knows best: boondoggles!
