Lewisburg Photography Club announces winners of annual exhibitition

The Lewisburg Photography Club announced the winners of its annual Lewisburg Photography Exhibition, currently on display at the Gallery at 15 N. Water St., Lewisburg, throughout the month of October. The exhibition is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. Volunteers from the Lewisburg Arts Council are on-site to assist visitors and provide information about the Arts Council and the exhibition.

Awards were presented at the Opening Reception on Oct. 4. Among the highlights was the Best in Show award, which was bestowed upon a remarkable young artist, Ramona Kroll, for her piece titled Eye See You, securing first place in the Young Adult category (ages 13-17).

Additional awards were presented across four adult categories (Nature, Black and White, Artistic/Abstract, and Lifestyle), as well as the Children’s Category (up to age 12). Winners received ribbons for first through third place, with monetary awards granted for adult first and second places. The complete list of winners is as follows:

Nature: “potentiality” by Jason DeBloois, first place; “Ethereal Tranquility” by Sierra Wenzel, second, and “Heliconia vellerigera” by Sarah Binder in third.

Black and White: “simplicity” by Jason DeBloois won first place; “Amish Farm at Sunset” by Kelly Caudle won second and third place went to “Heading Out” by Valerie Harris

Artistic/Abstract: “Reflecting Friends” by Kelsey Zimmerman won first place; second prize went to “Reflected Light” by Rita Scholl and “Tree of Life” by Megan Angstadt-Williams won third.

Lifestyle: First prize went to “A Calm Morning” by Rick Blair; “Anticipating the Catch” by Glenda Frederick won second and “Sunset on the River” by Jimmy Tighe was awarded third.

“Ocean’s Glory” by Levi Frantz won first place in the Children’s Category.

Young Adult: “Eye See You” by Ramona Kroll won best in show and first prize and “Long Night” by Ruby Lock won second.

The judging panel, comprised of local photographers, selected their favorite pieces from the exhibition. These winners received a Special ‘Judge’s Choice’ Award ribbon to recognize their exceptional work. Among the judges, Steve Gibson, founder of the Art Academy of Milton, selected “potentiality” by Jason DeBloois for his Judge’s Choice award. Gibson founded Art Academy of Milton, which serves the central Pa. valley in all things art, theater performance and music.

Terri Peterson, a Lewisburg-based photographer and artist, chose “Heading Out” by Valerie Harris for her Judge’s Choice award. Peterson got a camera in her hand 15 years ago and was hooked on the art.

Tony Ragusea, an award-winning photographer, awarded “Ethereal Tranquility” by Sierra Wenzel his Judge’s Choice award. Ragusea lives and works as a clinical psychologist in Lewisburg. He is known for his photos of nature and creative light paintings.

The Lewisburg Photography Club invites the community to visit the exhibition and celebrate the talent of local photographers.
