Lexington man hit girlfriend with car while she held their child, citation says


LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A Lexington man is charged with assault.

Police say 28-year-old James Tipplett hit his ex-girlfriend with his car while she was holding their one-year-old child.

Tripplett is charged with assault, wanton endangerment, strangulation and DUI.

According to the arrest citation, surveillance camera video shows Tripplett running over his ex-girlfriend’s leg and then driving toward her mother, striking her.

Lexington police say Tripplett left the scene before coming back and being taken into custody. The citation says he had an open bottle of alcohol in his car and admitted to taking shots.

The ex-girlfriend was taken to the hospital, where she told police that Tipplett also hit her and strangled her before she was run over.
