Liam Gallagher Criticizes Coachella as a ‘Pathetic Festival’

In a recent interview, Liam Gallagher offered a quick but divisive assessment of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The lead singer of Oasis took to Twitter on Tuesday (April 18) to respond to a fan who didn’t like Frank Ocean’s performance as this year’s headliner. The fan asked Gallagher to play at the event and “show him how it’s done.”

Gallagher replied by writing, “Pathetic festival.”

When another fan reminded Gallagher that Oasis had played at the event in 2002, he said, “You’d never catch me at a place like that.”

The headliners for the first weekend of Coachella were Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean. Fans were disappointed with Ocean’s performance because the livestream of his set was cancelled at the last minute, he didn’t sell any merchandise, and he took the stage an hour late to perform a low-energy set of reworked songs from his catalog.

Ocean’s team told Billboard after the show that he hurt his ankle during practices a week before the show. This meant that the show had to be changed at the last minute, including getting rid of an ice rink that was built for the performance. The skaters hired for the show still joined Ocean onstage, but this time they wore special Prada puffer jackets and danced with him on the spot.
