The San Francisco Public Library is ushering in a spring filled with arts, culture and civic engagement with a pair of weekend events in an effort to boost the area surrounding its main branch.
The Main Library on Saturday will host an afternoon of performances, storytelling and a visual art exhibition featuring formerly incarcerated artists in recognition of the second issue of Tapped-in Magazine, a publication by the Returning Citizens Association, an Oakland-based nonprofit supporting formerly incarcerated people’s transitions back into society.
Organizers of the Main Library’s forthcoming events say that their programming is connected to ongoing efforts to revitalize the area surrounding Civic Center.
