Light up the night at Hurley Park: Second annual Winter Lantern Walk hosted by Waterworks Visual Arts Center

SALISBURY — Waterworks Visual Arts Center ushers in the month of December with a community lantern walk.
The month of December ushers in those cold, starless evenings that seem to last forever. All are welcome to light up the night as folks gather at the Hurley Park deck, 304 Annandale Avenue, for the second annual Winter Lantern Walk, on Dec. 9, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. The happy procession winds in and around the park whilst the heartening glow of lit lanterns, the echo of laughter, and the feeling of camaraderie rise up into the chilly night air and warms hearts.
Refreshments and entertainment will be available. Spectators are welcome. Register at waterworks.org to participate.
Waterworks Visual Arts Center, 123 E. Liberty Street, will also host a lantern-making workshop the day of the walk, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. All materials and supplies provided. Cost: $10 Adult; $5 child https://www.waterworks.org/make-youth-and-family-workshops.
Can’t attend the workshop? You are encouraged to make your own lantern, as simple or extravagant as you like, and be part of the cavalcade of merry light bearers.
Waterworks Visual Arts Center is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Its mission is to provide diverse opportunities in the arts for all people through exhibitions, education and outreach. Waterworks is funded by individual memberships, corporations and businesses, foundations, the City of Salisbury, Rowan County and the Rowan Arts Council.
