Lighter winds return; nice travel weather

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – After a week of rather mild weather, some cooler temperatures settle in to wrap up the week. The gusty winds should settle down into Friday with a sunny day on the way.

Morning temperatures will drop to the 30s and 40s, but with a north breeze, it will feel colder. Much of the state will experience less wind as the day continues and highs will be near 60.

Heading into the weekend, a system coming from California will bring the likelihood of rain back to the region. Saturday is dry with highs in the 60s (and light winds), but scattered showers and thunderstorms are set to arrive before daybreak Sunday. The rain will spread on to the north and east as the day continues. Highs will drop back to the 50s and will be even cooler on Monday with more chances for rain. At this time, chances for snow appear very unlikely as it will be too warm, but it’s safe to expect highs in the 40s for the beginning of next week.

Rainfall amounts of .50-1″ look possible throughout central and south central Kansas, but across the west, it may only be up to .50″ before the moisture ends Monday evening.
