Lily Gladstone Told Leonardo DiCaprio She Was Furious Over His ‘Killers of Flower Moon’ Oscar Snub

Lily Gladstone and other Hollywood giants Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese convened for a candid discussion about the new film Killers of the Flower Moon, which appeared in Friday’s issue of Variety.

The trio discussed different facets of the drama, including production obstacles, a prolonged runtime, and, most significantly, DiCaprio’s unexpected Oscar snub.

Lily Gladstone defended her co-star, expressing her and her parents’ displeasure over his absence from the nominations.

She said, “They were pissed. He was the first to text me congratulations, with popping confetti. I told him how upset we all were.”

Although DiCaprio did not receive an Oscar nomination, Martin Scorsese and Lily Gladstone did.

Scorsese received his tenth Best Director nomination, and Lily made history as the first Native American to be nominated for Best Actress.

She voiced her dismay, saying, “My nomination is equal parts his. I would not have been able to do what I did without his generosity as an actor and as a human being.”

Martin Scorsese defended DiCaprio’s performance, saying, “Leo fearlessly created a true Everyman … an Everyman that people just don’t want to acknowledge. So that will endure.”
