Lincoln Educational Services Corporation is moving its technical school’s campus from Philadelphia to the Levittown section of Middletown Township.
The New Jersey-based career training post-secondary education company purchased the 90,000 square foot building at 311 Veterans Highway for approximately $10 million in September 2023. The company sold the building recently for $11 million and entered into a leaseback agreement for approximately 20 years.
The for-profit education company plans to convert the building, which previously housed ITT Technical Institute, into its new Lincoln Tech campus.
The site is just off I-295 and was once home to the long-gone I-95 Marketplace.
Lincoln Tech expects to invest approximately $15 million in the build new classrooms and training areas to ensure a “best-in-class campus” for students, faculty and industry partners.
Lincoln Tech has offered career training in automotive technology for more than 60 years at its current campus at 9191 Torresdale Avenue in Philadelphia.
The new Levittown campus is expected to open in the second half of 2025, according to company officials.
The city campus presently has about 250 automotive technology students enrolled, while the Middletown Township building is a larger campus and can accommodate approximately 600 students.
The size of the building will allow for future program expansions, school officials said.
The existing campus in Philadelphia will continue to operate until the renovation is fully complete to ensure a “seamless transition,” according to a statement from the school.
“Employer demand for specialized skills remains historically high throughout the state, and particularly in the greater Philadelphia area, and Lincoln has been providing employers with highly skilled and essential students for over 60 years” said Scott Shaw, Lincoln Tech’s president and CEO. “It’s been a privilege to assist employers across the automotive industry build their workforces, compete and grow their businesses. Today’s development ensures that we will provide the same value in the welding, HVAC and electrical fields, beginning in 2025.”
“The U.S. Department of Labor projects strong employment growth for the aforementioned industries in the years ahead, and we expect student demand for these career training programs is going to be increasing” commented April Lupinacci, the president of the Philadelphia campus.
Lincoln Educational Services Corporation operates 22 campuses across 14 states under four brands, including Lincoln Technical Institute, Lincoln College of Technology, Euphoria Institute of Beauty Arts and Sciences, and Lincoln Culinary Institutes in Maryland and Connecticut.
