Listen to Nef the Pharaoh’s “Furley Goat” [ft. LaRussell]: The Ones

Nef the Pharaoh: “Furley Goat” [ft. LaRussell]

The Northern California rap scene has been hit with so much tragedy recently that it’s cool to see people still having fun out in Vallejo. Longtime Bay Area staple Nef the Pharaoh and prolific ball of charisma LaRussell get in their hyphy bag on “Furley Goat.” Nef is so effortless with it, rapping with the conversational rhythm of a story told on a long car drive, while the cowboy hat-wearing LaRussell spits a feel-good verse filled with hyperlocal references that you just know had the studio on fire. The inevitable live performance—in the backyard of LaRussell’s childhood home, backed by a band—will be a moment.

With artists releasing songs at a fast and furious pace, it’s difficult for the average hip-hop head to keep track of it all—no matter how tapped in they are. That’s why we created The Ones, a daily post to highlight the song you need to hear.
