Live Adaptation of ‘The Little Mermaid’ to Earn $110 Million First Weekend


On its first weekend, the live version of “The Little Mermaid” is expected to bring in about $110 million. The movie will be shown for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend.

If it makes as much as they think it will, it will be the 8th biggest movie to come out on Memorial Day. The biggest movie right now is Top Gun: Maverick, which made $160.5 million in its first four days.

Halle Bailey, an actor, and singer, will play the main character, Ariel, in the movie. Melissa McCarthy will play the bad guy, Ursula, in the movie. Eric, Ariel’s love interest, will be played by Jonah Hauer-King. King Triton will be played by Javier Bardem, and Daveed Diggs will play Sebastian.

The original movie’s composer, Daveed Diggs, rewrote the music for the remake, and Lin Manuel Miranda, who wrote and stars in Hamilton, wrote new songs for the remake.
