Live Nation 4Q Revenue Seen Rising Amid Live Music Momentum — Earnings Preview

Live Nation Entertainment is scheduled to report earnings for the fourth quarter after the market close Thursday. Here’s what you need to know:


REVENUE: The world’s largest concert promoter is anticipated to post fourth-quarter revenue of $4.77 billion, according to FactSet. This compares with reported revenue of $4.29 billion for the same period a year earlier.

The stock has increased 4.2% in the past three months.


WHAT TO WATCH


–Look for comments around demand for live music on a worldwide basis, and check whether Live Nation sold more than 140 million tickets in the quarter, exceeding its third-quarter sales. In November, Chief Executive Michael Rapino said the company was seeing an acceleration of structural growth in the live-entertainment industry as consumer-spending shifts toward experiences.

–Watch closely comments around Live Nation’s Ticketmaster platform, which managed over 600 million tickets as of the third quarter. In the September quarter, the company’s ticketing unit saw revenue of $832.6 million, rising from $531.6 million for the same period a year earlier.
