CENTRALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Centralia Police Department is warning residents about car break-ins after reports of several burglaries in one subdivision.
In a post on Facebook, the department said multiple vehicles were broken into in the subdivision of Country Land Drive and in the area of Briarwood Lane on Tuesday night.
Police reported several teenagers were opening unlocked vehicles and stealing items from inside. This includes several guns and a garage door opener.
The post says this is the second time car break-ins have been reported in the area.
Back in August Centralia Police shared similar information about a group of teenagers breaking into cars in the same subdivision.
The Mexico Public Safety also responded to reports on Tuesday of overnight break-ins from vehicles in the southwest part of the city.
A 15-year-old teenage boy was detained Wednesday afternoon by Mexico Public Safety Department. He was processed and returned to the custody of his family on an ankle monitor.
Centralia Police is asking for any victims to contact the department. Officers are also reminding everyone not to leave valuables inside vehicles and to keep doors locked.
