I meant to take my husband on a thrill ride and scare him a little, but I am the one breathing hard, gasping and gawking.

“Look at that drop off,” Jim exclaims on a narrow road somewhere in Mount Washington. I’m hyperventilating.

Wooden and metal safety guard rails were first installed in 1965 according to the El Sereno Star and included four locations in El Sereno and more than a dozen in Highland Park and Eagle Rock.

Do they instill confidence in nervous drivers like me? Nope. Not one bit.
