OLD WASHINGTON – Barnesville bounced back from a rough start on Monday with a 57-41 girls’ basketball triumph over host Buckeye Trail on Wednesday.

Madelyn Tyson led the Shamrocks (1-1) with a game-best 26 points, while Ella Thompson added 19.

Ella Ashby paced the Warriors with 14, two more than Mya Fredrick.

WEST LIBERTY – The Hilltoppers moved to 2-0 in MEC play on Wednesday night as they defeated the Bobcats inside the ASRC. The hosts pushed the lead to double figures late in the first half and led by as many as 12 points in the third quarter, but they used their best shooting performance of the season (48.1% from the field) to fend off a late W.Va. Wesleyan charge in the final period.

Karly McCutcheon led the Hilltoppers with 22 points, three steals and two assists. Bailee Smith added 16 points, three assists and a pair of rebounds, while Paige Julian finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Corinne Thomas chipped in 13 points.
