Local screenwriter to attend film screening at Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center


There will be a special screening of “Grumpy Old Santa” on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. in Fryeburg at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with local screenwriter and Fryeburg Academy Alumni Justin Chaffee.

“Grumpy Old Santa” is a touching comedy that delves into the genuine challenges of transitioning into an empty nester phase. The tale unfolds when Nic’s life takes an unexpected turn as his wife initiates a divorce after their daughter departs for college. This life-altering event forces Nic to confront a new reality, leading to a heartwarming and humorous journey.

Justin grew up in the Catskill Mountains until his family moved to Maine where Justin attended Fryeburg Academy and University of Southern Maine. After college, Justin worked on the film “Chasing Ghosts” with Molly Mayuex, Jay Walters, Josh Shreve and Josh Chesler collaborating on additional screenplay work. Justin co-wrote the film, “Grumpy Old Santa” with Jay Walters.

Admission is free. The Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center is located at 18 Bradley St. on the campus of Fryeburg Academy.
