Loose horse causes car crash in New Roads, Point Coupee Sheriff says

A loose horse caused a vehicle crash in New Roads Wednesday afternoon, Point Coupee Sheriff René Thibodeaux said.

Around 5:30 p.m., the loose horse ran into Ferry Road and was hit by a car. The horse landed on the windshield and part of the car’s roof, damaging the vehicle, Thibodeaux said.

The driver of the car was not immediately taken to a hospital, Thibodeaux said. It is unclear if the driver received medical attention after the crash.

The horse has a cut from the accident but is otherwise fine, Thibodeaux said. The owner was able to track the horse down.
