Hannah and Rebecca Kideckel, junior twins at Lower Moreland High School, have been named the Reporter/Times Herald/Montgomery Media 2023 Girls Tennis Athletes of the Year for their tennis performances in the fall.

After playing the regular season as singles, they teamed up for the league, district and state playoffs, winning all nine of their matches, including the PIAA-2A state finals in early November.

“We always constantly pushed each other. We said to each other how much we want this, how much we want this all the time when things got tight. We really wanted it and we really pushed hard,” Hannah said.

“If I ever saw Hannah getting a little bit upset I would always cheer her up,” Rebecca said. “Same thing if she ever saw me getting a little bit upset she would always cheer me up. I think our main thing was that we were always staying positive and we had a really good attitude.”

The Kideckels were also named to the All-Area First Team for their sport. Teammates Abigail Yanovitsky and Anya Yang were named to the Second Team and Honorable Mention list, respectively.

Abington’s Jessica Chacko and Jada Young, Germantown Academy’s Jessica Wang, and Jenkintown’s Dawn Kotasenski and Savannah Luig received honorable mention nods as well.
