American Idol has a contender to replace Luke Bryan on the judge’s panel.
Following Katy Perry’s departure from the popular show earlier this month, it appears that the country singer may follow in her footsteps.
Though Perry’s replacement is yet to be determined, it looks that Bryant’s replacement has already been identified: rapper and country musician Jelly Roll.
According to an anonymous insider, “It’s doubtful Luke will continue on Idol after this season, so they’re bringing Jelly on to test the waters and see how viewers react.”
They stated that the producers are apprehensive that “such a sweet guy” like Jelly Roll may not be the ideal judge.
However, they believe that “he would instantly make the show hotter and more relevant” if he appeared.
Though Bryan has been a judge on the singing competition since 2012, he has been outspoken about his desire to prioritize his family – wife Caroline and their two teen sons – over his professional obligations.
Previously, Katy Perry departed the judge’s panel after receiving harsh criticism from spectators and an alleged confrontation with the producers.
