Luxury Vehicle Donated to SLC’s Automotive Service Technician Program

Travis Royle from The Royle Group at Century 21 Lanthorn & Associates in Belleville has donated a 2008 Maserati Quattroporte Executive GT to St. Lawrence College (SLC) for students in the Automotive Service Technician program (Cornwall campus) to use in their training. The car will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities in the diagnostics and maintenance of luxury vehicles.

Among the skills students will learn on the Maserati are:

  • Diagnosing and repairing vehicle data communication systems such as CAN (Controller Area Networking) high and low-speed bus communication
  • Diagnosing and repairing modern advanced ESC (electronic stability control) systems
  • Completing proper Parasitic Draw Testing on modern vehicles that have multiple complex modules

“I’m delighted to support the Automotive program at St. Lawrence College with this gift-in-kind,” said Travis Royle, Team Leader and Broker of Record for The Royle Group at Century 21 Lanthorn & Associates. “This vehicle has great sentimental value to me and my family, and I’m thrilled that it will be used to enhance hands-on learning at SLC.” Travis chose SLC to receive the luxury vehicle because of his wife Pamela’s alumni connection. Pamela graduated from the Behavioural Science Technology program in 2007.

“St. Lawrence College is extremely grateful any time our College and our students are thought of by donors, and we are delighted to receive this gift,” said Glenn Vollebregt, President and CEO of St. Lawrence College. “This vehicle will help our Automotive Service Technician students excel in their careers by increasing the relevant, hands-on learning our college and program is known for and it expands the practical application of skills in the learning environment in an exciting way.”

On hand to receive the gift from Mr. Royle was Aidan Wornes Associate Dean, School of Trades and Head of Apprenticeship for SLC, Saifullah Sanaye Professor of Automotive Technology and Automotive Program Coordinator, and Jessica Kostuck Associate Director, Development with SLC. In lieu of the traditional plaque, SLC recognized and celebrated this unique gift-in-kind with a vanity license plate.
