Maine Wildlife Park hosts Fall Fun Weekend

Families ventured into the park for the chance to see some animals and learn from park staff.

GRAY, Maine — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife wrapped up its Fall Fun Weekend at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray.

Families ventured into the park, taking a peak at some animals and tuning into park staff presentations, like bats, owls, and other nocturnal animals.

Lawn games and a park-wide scavenger hunt added some competition to the visit for families as they made their way throughout the park on self-guided tours.

One mother said she values experiences like this as it helps her young daughter discover and appreciate the world around her.

“I think, for us, being outside is a huge part of our lifestyle. We actually live on a farm, and so for her to grow up kind of understanding and appreciating nature and respecting [it], it’s really an important part of our core values,” Lindsay Reichard said.

Reichard’s daughter, Rosie, said her favorite part of her visit was seeing the flying squirrels and getting her face painted.

“This is just such a beautiful place and the animals are all so happy, so it’s a great place to come visit no matter the weather,” Reichard said.
