LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A car theft in north Lincoln on Saturday led to an officer being bitten on the leg, police say.

Around 3:45 p.m., officers were sent to Walgreens near 14th and Superior Streets on a report of a vehicle theft.

Police said 26-year-old Michael Dixon stole a 1993 Chevy Caprice that had been left running in the parking lot.

As he was leaving the area, Dixon crashed into a Ford Fusion, causing around $1,500 in damage, according to police.

The owner of the stolen Chevy later spotted it near the Eiseley Library.

Officers found Dixon inside the library and took him into custody.

During a struggle, Dixon bit an officer on the leg, police said.

Dixon also had a bottle of alcohol that dropped and shattered, cutting another officer on the leg, police said.  The officer got three stitches at the hospital.

Dixon was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including third-degree assault on an officer and theft.
