Man Critically Injured After Jumping Out Of Moving Car: PD


EAST ISLIP, NY — A man was critically injured after jumping from a moving vehicle in East Islip Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the incident took place on Sunrise Highway at 11:49 a.m. when a man, the passenger in a 2023 Toyota traveling west on Sunrise Highway, was involved in a dispute with the driver of the vehicle. The passenger, who is without a known address, jumped out of the moving vehicle, police said.

He was taken via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he is in critical condition, police said. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352. All calls can remain confidential.

All lanes were closed during the investigation but have since reopened, police said.
