
DES PLAINES, IL — A Mount Prospect man is accused of two felony crimes after he reportedly drove his car toward a woman he had met on a dating app, causing her to fall to the ground. Jose Roldan Vazquez, 37, of the 40 block of N. Albert Street, has been charged with felony aggravated battery, felony failure to report a personal injury accident, and was ticketed for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
Roldan Vazquez was due in court for a detention hearing at the time of this report.
Police were on patrol at 4:28 a.m. Tuesday, in the area of Golf Road and Mount Prospect Road when they heard a woman scream on the northeast corner of the intersection. The woman was seen knocking on the front door of a business in the 0-100 block of W. Golf Road. She told police she had been struck by a car. Police said the victim’s clothes were wet and disheveled, indicative of an incident occurring. She was later taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

During the subsequent investigation, police learned the woman had met Roldan Vazquez in a parking lot across the street after the two connected on a dating app. Once both parties were in the parking lot, the victim entered Roldan Vazquez’s white Ford SUV and they drove away from the area.
Police said that shortly after returning to the parking lot, a verbal argument ensued, and the victim exited the vehicle to get away from Roldan Vazquez. Roldan Vazquez then drove his vehicle toward the victim, causing her to fall to the ground.

Officers were able to locate a home address of Roldan Vazquez in Mount Prospect and took him into custody.
Police checked the area for surveillance from nearby businesses and located one showing the white SUV striking the victim. Due to the nature of the incident, the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department was contacted and approved the felony charges.
