SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WNCN) — A 29-year-old underwent emergency surgery late Wednesday night after he was struck by gunfire and found in a vehicle, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said.

At 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday, a 911 caller reported a gunshot wound victim in the 100 block of Crest Circle in Spring Lake. A man was found sitting inside a white Honda Accord and deputies immediately began life-saving measures until EMS arrived.

The man was taken to a hospital where, after an emergency surgery, the sheriff’s office said he is in stable condition Thursday morning.

The investigation into what led to the man being shot remains active and the sheriff’s office currently has no suspects identified or in custody.
