Man killed in car vs. three-wheel motorcycle crash in Benton County


BENTON COUNTY, Mo. — A man from Independence, Missouri, died in a two-vehicle crash in Benton County on Monday, May 27.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) crash report, the crash occurred as 89-year-old William Gorman was westbound, trying to cross US-65 from Balke Road in a 2024 Can-Am Spyder three-wheel motorcycle.

At 10:42 a.m., Gorman’s vehicle was struck by a southbound 2018 GMC Terrain, totaling the motorcycle. Gorman was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor at 11:34 a.m.

The driver of the GMC Terrain was not injured in the crash, but her vehicle suffered extensive damage.

This is the 26th fatal crash and 27th fatality in MSHP Troop A in 2024.
