A man who was sleeping in a car with another man was shot and killed early Thursday morning off Wellington Road in the Manassas area.

Police were called to the shooting in the 12000 block of Cadet Court at 2:42 a.m., where they found the injured man.

The investigation revealed that two men were sleeping inside a parked vehicle in the 12000 block of Cadet Court about 2:42 a.m., when one of the men was shot, Prince William County police Master Officer Renee Carr said in a release.

The injured man was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was not injured.

Detectives are still trying to determine what led up to the shooting and would like to speak to anyone who may have information.

Preliminarily, the incident does not appear to be random, Carr said.

Police have not released the identity of the man killed pending notification of a next-of-kin.
