Man to be charged in shooting, fatal car accident

PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County State’s Attorney is filing charges against a man for shooting a gun and causing two accidents, one of them proved to be fatal.

Jodi Hoos’ office says Vanda Terrell, 51, is being charged with Aggravated Driving Under the Influence Causing Death, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.

That’s less than the number of charges Peoria Police charged Terrell with.

Terrell allegedly fired a gun Wednesday night on West Ann Street, fled police at a high rate of speed, blew through several stop signs, and eventually crashed into a vehicle driven by Wardrick Millburn, 46, claiming his life hours later.

Hoos claims Terrell had a blood alcohol level over the legal limit.

Terrell is still hospitalized following the crash, but prosecutors say they will move to detain him until trial once he’s released.
