Mark Wright hits back at home-shamers who mocked new decor at £3.5m mansion

MARK Wright has hit back at trolls who mercilessly mocked the decor of his £3.5million Essex mansion on Instagram.

Last week, the presenter and former Towie star shared a rare look inside his home after years of renovations were finally completed.

This included before and after shots where the bare bones of the house were revealed, next to the completed, fully decorated rooms.

The picture perfect house almost exclusively uses white or off-white for both their interiors and exteriors, including in their grand hallway, bedroom, bathrooms and living room.

In the hallway, a giant statement chandelier hangs down the winding staircase.

Their outside swimming pool is also a crisp white and surrounded by bright white tiling.

After trolls took aim at their simple and sleek décor, Mark has decided to hit back on his Heart radio show, defending the years-long passion project for him and his wife, Michelle Keegan.

He explained that his wife had ‘final decision’ on all of the work they had done, but he was left angry on her behalf after people came for the chandelier she especially designed.

“When it came to picking a chandelier in our house, like the light in the middle of our hallway that drops from the third floor ceiling, she designed it and drew it and I was like ‘what is that?’” he admitted.

“It’s just loads of like, light bulbs just dropping from the ceiling and when she drew it and designed it with the amazing company, I looked at it and I was like ‘this just doesn’t work’ and I really didn’t like it but I have to say, as I said, but we went for it we hung it and it looks amazing.”

However, he admitted that other commenters did draw his attention to a potentially annoying problem that will arise from the piece in the future.

“We sometimes do, we post our house updates on our Instagram account and when we did that, we showed the chandelier off and I can’t tell you how many comments I got that made me think ‘why didn’t I think of this at the start?’

“Basically, picture a light with loads and loads of hanging bulbs that are all different heights that you can’t get to because it’s hanging from the staircase in the middle.

“Yeah, that’s us and everybody underneath…. ‘how are you going to change those light bulbs?’

“It’s only new so one hasn’t gone yet. So I do not know what we’re going to do when one pops!

“So yeah, thanks Instagram for letting me know, and thanks for letting me know that I was corrected, and It was the wrong chandelier,” he ended, before jokingly adding, “So Michelle, next time I’m picking the light!”
