BRUNSWICK, Ohio — With the feel of a city-within-a-city, the 26,000-square-foot dining and entertainment complex Market 42 made its official debut May 2 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“The economic development (aspect) of this is fantastic,” said Debbie Boehmke, executive director of the Northern Medina Chamber Alliance, “as well as the number of new employees it brings into Brunswick, and people coming in from outside Brunswick to the north end of Pearl Road.
“With Architectural Justice and Mapleside expanding on the south side, it is really the whole city.”
In development for nearly three years, Market 42, 2099 Pearl Road, is described by co-owners Nick Kyriazis, Necol Williams and John Williams as a premier public market, dining and entertainment destination.
The businesses bring “fresh, farm-to-table, trendy and traditional artisanal products to the community,” they said.
Market 42 features more than 25 food vendors — including an in-house bar, coffee shop and butcher — along with space for events such as workshops, wine tastings and farmers markets.
Necol Williams said the vision began as a simple farmers market concept and expanded throughout the planning process.
“John and I are from Columbus, and they have this concept down there. We are really excited to bring it here,” she said.

With a few of the vendors holding soft openings prior to the ribbon cutting, Williams said the community engagement even throughout the building process has been phenomenal.
“It has been wonderful; we are very pleased,” she said.
Kyriazis likewise thanked the community for its support for the project.
“I want to say thank you to everyone — the city, the contractors, the vendors in the market, the entire community,” he said.
He invited all to enjoy “great food, atmosphere and an experience for all the city.”
The ribbon-cutting event included proclamations from state, county and local officials.
Brunswick City Council President and Ward 2 representative Nick Hanek said Market 42 is one of only a handful of “food-hall markets” in Ohio.
“We are setting the trend,” Hanek said. “There are so many things here; you can come in the morning, during the day and night.
“It is a gathering place, a community hub with a lot of activity. This is going to bring a lot of attention and energy into the Pearl Road corridor.”
