Marquette Arts & Culture Center announces final Art Week

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – The Marquette Arts and Culture Center announced Tuesday that after a decade, Art Week is coming to an end.

This summer will be the final installation of the city of Marquette’s week-long celebration of arts and culture.

The center says the goal of Art Week was to highlight the collaboration, programs and partnerships in the community, which now thrive on their own.

Tristan Luoma, city of Marquette Arts and Senior Services coordinator, says now the center will focus on expanding it to a yearlong effort, rather than only a week.

“Over this past 10 years, we’ve learned a whole lot, made a lot of connections, a lot of partnerships,” Luoma said. “The event is beloved. It’s going to be hard to see it go. It’s time that our office shifts to exploring and expanding upon what we’ve been able to accomplish to better serve the arts and culture community and the community at large year-round.”

The final Art Week will be to the theme of STORIES. You can now submit proposals for projects. To honor the final installation of Art Week, proposals may also revisit successful Art Week projects from the past.

Art Week will run from June 23-28, 2025. The deadline for proposals is March 7, 2025.
