Mars has hired David Jacobs as vp of marketing for its food and nutrition business in North America.

The exec brings extensive sales and marketing experience to the CPG. He spent nearly two decades at SC Johnson, most recently serving as its executive director and head of marketing for its North America business. Before that, Jacobs worked at Unilever for almost a decade, growing brands across several markets in the food, personal care, and home-cleaning categories.

In his new role, the marketer will lead strategies and drive growth across Mars’ rice and ready-meal categories for brands including Ben’s Original and Seeds of Change, in the U.S. and Canada. He will report to Dave Dusangh, who was promoted to regional president of Mars Food & Nutrition North America in November 2024.

“We’re excited to welcome David to Mars Food & Nutrition,” said Dusangh in a statement. “His impressive background in building world-leading CPG brands and leading high-performing teams aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver delicious, convenient, and nutritious meals to meet the evolving needs of today’s consumers.”

Jacobs said in a statement that he has always admired Mars “for its exceptional brands, strong values and principles, and commitment to innovation.”

He succeeds Angie Madigan, who left Mars for Kraft Heinz in August 2024. The exec joined the CPG company in 2021 as it undertook the rebrand of Uncle Ben’s Rice to Ben’s Original, which changed due to previous packaging depicting stereotypes of Black subservience.
