Jeff Goldblum has been cast in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked.
The actor who has been in Marvel movies has been linked to the project for a while, but he has now been hired, as he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
“I was just on this set of Wicked. I’m not supposed to talk about that, but it’s been out and about,” he stated.
Wicked is a spin-off of The Wizard of Oz, focusing on Elphaba and Glinda prior to their transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch, respectively.
The film’s two witches will be played by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, while Jeff Goldblum will portray the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In addition to John M. Chu, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, and Ethan Slater also star in the film.
He said, “You should see our witches – Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande – [they are] very good,” “I was shooting one day, and I found myself tearing up in fear, a childhood fear came back to me.”
Wicked, also called Wicked: Part One, is an upcoming epic musical fantasy film that will be directed by Jon M. Chu and written for the screen by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. The film is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel of the same name and characters from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
