The famous toy company Mattel is about to make a big splash in the movie business with the release of at least 14 movies based on different toy characters.
A movie about “Polly Pocket” will be directed by Lena Dunham, and a movie about “Barney” will be made by Daniel Kaluuya.
There aren’t many information about the other movies yet, but reports say that Mattel has 45 movies in the works. Lily Collins is set to act in and help make the movie “Polly Pocket” with MGM. She first said she would do this in 2021.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Mattel had already said that a live-action “Hot Wheels” movie would be made by J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot, which would be a great addition to an already exciting program. Mattel Films also announced plans for a live-action “Barney” movie in 2019, co-produced by star Daniel Kaluuya and meant to surprise people.
The big movie plans include American Girl, View Master, Masters of the Universe, Magic 8 Ball, and Uno, among other Mattel toys.
Mattel’s first movie from their in-house film company, Mattel Films, “Barbie,” which has done very well at the box office, has just come out. In 2018, CEO Ynon Kreiz set up the section with the goal of making the company an “IP-driven machine.”
