McKinley School of the Arts in collaboration with Harambe Ministries announced an upcoming event entitled “Rize: The Dena Edition,” a unique performance celebrating the legacy of Dena while providing emotional healing following the Eaton Fire tragedy. The production, directed by Quiana Turner, Candace Lacy, and Courtney Linsey, is not a musical or a play or like anything else that McKinley has ever done before.
“After the tragedy and destruction of the Eaton Fire, the directors of Rize: The Dena Edition seek to apply balm to the hearts of the cities’ residents and to remind everyone that we are #DenaStrong,” states the announcement from McKinley School of the Arts.
The performance promises to have “a little bit of everything: singing, dancing, rapping, spoken word, even some acting” and will be “a nonstop, high energy, good time.”

The special production will take place on May 17 at 6 p.m. at McKinley School of the Arts, located at 325 S. Oak Knoll Ave. in Pasadena.
All proceeds from the event will benefit students through the McKinley Annual Fund, which supports student events and visual and performing arts programs.
Tickets are available for $10 through the online platform Cur8 at https://cur8.com/25312/project/130486, and additional donations are welcomed via: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E10123&id=33.
