Meet the platform highlighting Black-owned businesses today and everyday – from beauty, health, food, fashion and entertainment

Finding culturally inclusive local businesses has never been easier thanks to digital advances and most importantly, public support.

That’s why for the last three years, the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC) and Uber Canada have worked hand in hand to bring Canadians Black Business Direct (BBD), a digital directory to help even more Black-owned businesses be discovered.

And with a two-year renewal announced last year, Uber Canada has shown its dedication to the CBCC and BBD, just as the community has shown its devotion to talented business owners.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with CBCC on Black Business Direct and support thousands of Black-owned businesses across the country, ” said Head of Public Policy and Communications Laura Miller. “We continue to look for ways to use our technology to support the communities we serve.”

“Black Business Direct is more than just a directory, it’s a platform that amplifies Black voices, creates connections, and drives meaningful change for Black-owned businesses across Canada,” said Michael Forrest, Founder of Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC). “Uber Canada’s renewed commitment to CBCC underscores our shared goal to bring greater visibility to the Black business community.”

The best part is that the extensive list of shops and restaurants, available on the website, is completely free and easy to use.

It also carries an array of options from beauty, health, food, fashion and entertainment thanks to its more than 3,000 listings.

This includes some fan-favourites like The Real Jerk, a Toronto restaurant serving up authentic Caribbean cuisine for the last 30 years.

The restaurant opened its first location in 1984 at Queen Street and Greenwood Avenue and has become a staple for many communities ever since.

And for those in need of self care, you can never go wrong with Curl Bar Beauty Salon.

The hair salon was founded in 2012 and is led by a team of stylists trained in the art of curls and coils.

There’s really something for everyone, in fact, the directory is also bilingual, as there’s a a French version of the site.
