Meghan Markle is being accused of enjoying the thrill of launching a business, but she does’t actually want to see it through, and after the fun stuff, she calls it quits.
Meghan Markle worked so hard to get her lifestyle website up and running, and then after one day — actually, one hour — it came to an end, alarmingly quick, with one royal expert calling the Duchess out.
According to Jane Barr, author of From Berkshire to Buckingham, the name of her website — As Ever — doesn’t matchup with this blink-and-you-miss-it business.
Barr was in shock to learn Meghan was closing up shop after selling out in an hour, which she discusses over on her Substack.

Barr said: “Frankly, my jaw was on the floor. What in the world?? She just launched.”
She added: “It was — we are assured — a gratifying smash success. Now she is moving on?”
It’s not to say Meghan is done-done, and won’t restock, but it seems she had enough product for that first day, and when it sold out, she was done playing Business Barbie and wanted to go back to hanging out with “H” and the kids. It definitely stuck out to Barr, that after one day, she called it quits.
Barr said: “Meghan has no longterm projects. None. Which is ironic since she named her brand ‘As Ever.’”
She added: “I have some sympathy for people with lot of ideas. I have lots of ideas. And you are allowed to fail.”
According to Barr, failure is a part of entrepreneurialism and you can’t have one without the other, it’s a package deal.
Barr said: “You can’t be afraid to fail; you will fail; and you keep going.”
She added: “But you have to work your idea all the way through or you won’t find the right path.” It’s interesting that Barr would consider this a fail, when it’s clear that Meghan thinks of it as a success — enough to quit while she is ahead — but it is very common for two people to look at the same exact situation and have very different takeaways.
“It feels like Meghan starts projects purely for the launch, and then tires of them before they even have a chance to thrive,” said Barr.
