Mel B Discloses the ‘Extreme’ Tactics She Took to Overcome Trauma from Her Marriage

Mel B had to take some surprising steps to cope with the damage created by her abusive marriage to Stephen Belafonte.

The former Spice Girl told The Sun that she endured excruciating electric brain therapy every day for over six weeks in the Balearic Islands.

The 48-year-old performer described how the gadget targeted certain areas of her brain associated with “trauma, emotions, and depression.”

“The machine would bang and brrr as magnetic waves struck my head. “It was intrusive,” she remembered.

The America’s Got Talent judge admitted that the experience was excruciatingly traumatic, putting her in “floods of tears” as she coped with horrific flashbacks.

She also mentioned that she had attempted other types of therapy, such as hypnotherapy and EMDR, but these did not work for her.

Regardless of how painful the treatment was, she believed that electro-cranial magnetic therapy “renewed, rewired, and shocked” the portions of her brain that had been damaged by years of abuse and trauma.

Mel B and Stephen Belafonte were married for ten years, from 2007 to 2017. Throughout their marriage, he allegedly was financially, emotionally, and physically abusive to her.
