Growing up queer in Darjeeling, makeup became my sanctuary, a way to anchor myself amid societal expectations. As a queer man, I’ve always challenged the stereotype that skincare and makeup are only for women. Music, art, and punk culture influenced me – but I truly found my voice through fashion and makeup. Sharing my journey on Instagram gave me a platform where I could connect with a community that shares the same passion. Makeup allows me to express myself through colours and shapes, offering me a personal escape and a powerful form of self-expression.
“In the early stages, my work was quite different from what most people were used to (on Instagram), so it took time for others to understand and appreciate what I was creating. I’m incredibly grateful for the support I’ve received, which has allowed me to carve out a niche for myself and others who resonate with my content. My work has never been about appealing to the masses, and I’m proud to have an audience that truly values and connects with what I do. That’s what matters most to me.
“I believe that criticism is only valuable if it’s constructive. Otherwise, it’s a waste of time for the critic, not for me. I’ve always believed ‘Ignorance is bliss’, but I acknowledge that harsh words can sometimes get to me. Still, I strive to move past them and stay focused on my goals.
“This past year has been incredible for me. Until the end of last year, I was working as a senior designer at a major fashion house, but I decided to step away to pursue my passion for content creation full-time. Creating content is so much more than just taking a pretty picture – it’s about being the stylist, art director, scriptwriter, and model all in one.
It’s challenging, but it brings me immense joy. At the start of this year, I signed with Cloutpockets, an agency that has opened doors to amazing brand collaborations and projects. It’s been a fulfilling year, and I feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.”
