Men’s basketball cruises past Morrisville in Hamilton Invitational


CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College’s Garret Keyhani ’26 dropped in 19 points and the Continentals breezed by the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs, 90-68, in the Hamilton Men’s Basketball Invitational Tournament at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, Nov. 18. 
 
Season Update

  • Hamilton (1-1 overall) picked up its first win of the season. 
  • SUNY Morrisville (1-2) is a member of the North Atlantic Conference. 

How It Happened

  • Hamilton was clinging to a three-point lead at 47-44 early in the second half, but a 9-0 run gave the Continentals some breathing room. A 3-pointer by Teja Singh ’25, a layup by Owen Kane ’25, a jumper by Singh and a fastbreak layup by Hank Morgan ’25 made it 56-44 with 16:06 left. 
  • The Mustangs were able to cut their deficit to eight points at 61-53 with 13:08 remaining. The Continentals responded with an overwhelming 19-0 spurt for its largest lead of 27 points with 7:55 to go. Morrisville went more than six minutes without a point. 
  • Hamilton stayed in front by 20-plus points the rest of the way.  
  • Jalen Reese ’27 scored the game’s first six points for the Continentals on two layups and a dunk. 
  • Graham Robinson ’25 nailed a 3-ball for a 13-6 advantage with 14:20 left in the first half. 
  • Morrisville countered with seven straight points and pulled within one at 21-20. The Mustangs eventually took a 26-25 lead with 7:32 to go. 
  • The Mustangs led 37-35 with 2:08 left but the Continentals scored the last seven points of the half for a 42-37 at the break.
  • Hamilton shot 60.7 percent (17-28) from the floor in the second half, including 6 of 13 from beyond the arc, and went 8-for-11 at the free-throw line. 
  • The Continentals owned a 42-32 advantage in points in the paint.
  • The Mustangs received 49 points from their bench. 

Notes

  • Morgan finished with 17 points in 22 minutes. 
  • Reese tallied 12 points and eight rebounds. 
  • Connor Jenkins ’27 registered 13 points off the bench. 
  • Singh chipped in 10 points and a team-best four assists. 
  • Christian McDaniel ’24 added seven points and three steals. 
  • Will Holmes ’27 had four of Hamilton’s 12 blocked shots.
  • Brandon Kulakowski paced Morrisville with 18 points and six rebounds. 
  • Shykell Brown scored 15 points and Kareem Sanders tallied 10 for the Mustangs. 

Next Game
Hamilton plays in the tournament’s championship game against Neumann University (1-2) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19. Neumann defeated Vermont State University Lyndon 109-81 in Saturday’s first game.
