History
Bowie State is 4-1 against Cheyney entering Wednesday’s non-conference tilt, including earning a 99-85 win in 2016 which was the last time these two teams met.
The Last Outing
The Bulldogs (2-3) are looking to snap a two-game losing skid after falling 60-54 at Shepherd Sunday at Butcher Center. Amare Wimbush led the effort with 11 points and five rebounds. Corey Barnes recorded a team-high seven rebounds while Caleb Johnson chipped in 10 points and three assists. However, the Bulldogs performance was not enough to overpower Shepherd (3-2). As a unit, the Bulldogs shot 23-57 from the floor (40-percent), but saw a disadvantage in rebounds (30-42) and just 55-percent (5-9) from the free-throw line. Since 2008, the Bulldogs are 4-5 against Shepherd.
Cheyney
Wednesday’s tilt will be the sixth outing of the season for Cheyney who is 0-5 on the young season. This contest will mark the second CIAA opponent for the Wolves after falling to Virginia Union earlier this season, 102-72 back on Nov. 18.
Looking Ahead
Bowie State travels to Rutherford, NJ on Monday, Dec. 4 to take on Felician at 7 p.m. This will be the second meeting between the two programs. The first meeting occurred during the Harlem Renaissance Classic in which the Bulldogs fell short 70-66 on Nov. 19, 2022, in Harlem NY.
