HUNTSVILLE | The No. 23 UAH men’s basketball team cruised past visiting Fisk by a final score of 93-78 on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Court at Spragins Hall on the final day of action for the 2023 Bill Penney Classic. UAH improves to 2-2, while Fisk slides to 0-4.
Junior Luke Burnett was electric from beyond the arc in the Saturday victory, going 7-for-16 on three-pointers to lead the Chargers with 26 points.
Tommy Murr rated second on the UAH offense with 18 points on a 6-of-10 day from the field that also included a 2-for-4 performance on three-pointers. Both Burnett and Murr tied for the roster lead with 26 minutes played on Saturday.
Jack Kostel registered another strong all-around performance with a team-high seven rebounds to go along with eight points and four assists over 23 minutes on the court. Dane Harding helped guide the offense with a team-best five assists.
Daniel Saylor had an efficient night from the floor, putting up 10 points in 12 minutes of work in addition to four rebounds.
Overall, UAH shot 51.6 percent (32-62) from the field and 43.8 percent (14-32) on three-pointers. The Blue & White have now shot 32 percent or better from three-point range in all four games so far this season, while averaging 88.0 points per game.
UAH’s defense forced a total of eight turnovers in the contest, while committing only six turnovers offensively.
The Chargers have a week break until the start of Gulf South Conference play for the 2023-24 campaign, as Montevallo visits Spragins Hall for the league opener Saturday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m.
