Men’s Tennis Concludes Fall Season at Seahawk Invitational – Coastal Carolina University Athletics

Wilmington, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men’s tennis team concluded its 2023 fall season today with final round of play at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational in Wilmington, N.C.

During the tournament’s first two days, the Chants went 13-5 across the singles and doubles brackets, with Rivers Cahill, Jesus Garcia, Guilherme Toresan and Lucas Wayenburg all winning three of their four matches.

In the opening round of day three, the Chants started the same way they ended play yesterday, facing Davidson, this time in a doubles meeting. CCU got off to a fast start by sweeping the Bulldogs, as the pairings of Wayenburg and Carlos Berna Ruiz, Toresan and Garcia and Ryuya Ata and Cahill took all three doubles matches.

In Coastal’s final round of the Seahawk Invite, and of this year’s fall season, they faced host UNCW Wilmington in a singles matchup. The Chants were unable to secure their final series, as the Seahawks took four of the seven meetings, all in straight sets. Seniors Ata, Maj Tomac and Garcia ended their final fall campaign on the winning end, with Ata and Garcia ending the final day with a perfect 2-0 record.
